LEADERSHIP TRAINING
The Leadership Program provides impoverished Ugandan youth, predominantly orphaned girls, with an education both inside and outside the classroom
Project Needs and Beneficiaries
Vast numbers of orphans, particularly young women, lack the funds to attend high school and are often forced into early marriage or unskilled labor. Those who manage to graduate from high school often remain trapped in poverty because they lack the practical skills and network of support to put their education to use. The Leadership Program provides these youth with scholarships for high school; training in critical skills through workshops and service projects; and a network of support.
Activities
Entrepreneurial training combined with critical life skills (such as personal finance, HIV/AIDS awareness and assertiveness) provide the scholars with a foundation of compentencies needed to leverage their high school educations in a meaningful way.
Potential Long Term Impact
The Leadership Program will provide impoverished Ugandan youth with the high school education, skills and support they need to reach their full potential and serve as leaders of themselves, their families and their communities.
